FOUR SUSPECTED SPECIALISTS IN CATTLE THEFT FALL IN GEANDARMS DRAGNET ALONG TIKO DOUALA HIGHWAY
A gang of four alleged bandits said to be specialized in the theft of cattle around the Tiko – Douala stretch where herds of cattle usually pasture, is currently being questioned at the Gendarmarie Brigade in Buea. According to Gendarme Sub Officer in charge of the Peleton Routier Motorise de Gendarmarie post of Buea, Nsangou Emmanuel, the four were caught in the early hours of Wednesday Aug. 2nd 2015 around the Mungo bridge driving to Douala in a Van carrying three slaughtered cows. “For the past three months we received a lot of complains on cattle theft from cattle owners around the Moungo area’’, Officer NSANGOU explained. “Within our investigative network that is regularly activated, one of our informants hinted us that a group of five suspected individuals in a Van were seen driving towards a village after misselele called TADA. At about 3:00 am I left with two of my men to lay an ambush before the Toll Gate in order to track down such a Van. By 5:30 am we saw the Van coming and when we stopped it for a routine check, the driver refused to stop and drove off. We chased the car and caught them before the Mungo bridge and found three slaughtered cows in the van.
The four have denied the accusations, claiming that, they were contacted by a herdsman called Issa who informed them that, three of the cattle of his master were sick and that the master wanted them to come and collect. On arriving the scene they met three cows already death and slaughtered waiting besides the road , not far from the Toll Gate on the Tiko - Douala High way.It was on their journey back to Douala that they fell into a waiting ambush set for them by elements of the Peleton Routier Motorise of Buea. The four suspects include Mohamadou NOUROU 35 gang leader, Tido NICANON 34 gang driver, Desmond TAGON 23 gang butcher and 22 year old YOUSSOUF Elilabel.
